chic&basic collaborates with the DOCfield>16 festival
chic&basic shows its commitment to the world of images by collaborating with the Documentary Photography and Photojournalism Festival DOCfield>16, an event organised by the Photographic Social Vision foundation.
In this year's edition the festival included the artistic direction of Greek writer, teacher, and curator Natasha Christia, who under the title "Europe: Lost in Translation" set out to give a broader vision and knowledge to everyone included in the identity crisis that Europe was suffering.
"Who are we? Who were we? Who do we want to be?”
The contemporary situation of coexistence of countries with such disparate socio-economic situations and such different cultures raised several questions that were intended to be resolved through the documentary photography that makes up DOCfield>16. The refugee crisis, nationalism, xenophobia, and European differentiation between the countries of the north and the south are just some of the issues that through exhibitions, screenings, workshops, and other activities serve to try to understand where the thinking of the old continent is headed to, which is very different from what it originally was.
At chic&basic we were delighted to open our doors to Natasha Christia and artists from other editions so that they could expand our minds with their words and visuals.
